Even if you're years away from college, FAFSA4caster is a great way to learn about the financial aid process, and to get an estimate of your personal eligibility for financial aid. And when the time nears to start college, the information you provided in FAFSA4caster can be transferred to your FAFSA form electronically, saving you time. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). At the beginning of the calendar year in which you'll start school, be sure to fill out this form which will go out to the schools you specify. This is the form which will be used by the schools to produce your "Award Letter" from each school. Because some financial aid is on a 'first come, first served' basis, be sure you fill out this form as early as possible in the calendar year you'll start school.
